Born: 1985
Education: Cand. Merc. Mat.
Career area: Investment Products

“I love to work in a fast-moving environment where we always need to adapt to new challenges”

The position

As a sales manager in Investment Products I am responsible for providing different investment solutions to a wide range of clients spanning retail to institutional clients. The product range includes: structured bonds, certificates and deposits.

My job

I look at attractive solutions in the option markets for all asset classes including equity, FX, interest rates, credit, commodities etc. A big part of my job is to find investment cases in close cooperation with our analysts and create the best solutions for the specific client. Therefore my job is a perfect combination of financial modelling and sales.

My career

I started at Nordea Markets in June 2012 as an assistant sales manager right after I finished my master’s degree at Copenhagen Business School. My first main task was to assist my colleagues in product development and in the production of structured bonds. Within a short time I was given a lot of responsibility which led to a steep learning curve. After one year I had developed my skills significantly and had a very large degree of autonomy in my daily work. Today I am responsible for delivering investment solutions to one of the biggest clients in the Investment Products team.

Outside my job

When I am not at work I spend time with my friends and do a lot of sports. Whenever possible, I also try to make as much time for travelling as I can.

The best thing about being here

I love to work in a fast-moving environment where we always need to adapt to new challenges. I have had the opportunity to work with and develop my skills in a lot of different areas, from financial modelling to marketing and implementing a new concept for one of our product categories.

Born: 1988
Education: MSc in Advanced Economics and Finance
Career area: International Credit Sales

“My colleagues are friendly, ambitious and good at what they do”

The position

Every graduate who starts at Nordea Markets is appointed as an assistant sales manager. In this position, you are gradually introduced to the financial products within your respective teams and as you begin to understand the products you will be introduced to clients. The usual procedure is to get on board with one of your senior colleagues and learn as back-up coverage before you are given responsibility for your own portfolio of clients. It is important to emphasise that the speed of this process depends on the complexity of the financial products as some require more time than others to understand.

My job

I work within International Credit Sales. The focus of our team is to advise on corporate debt securities towards institutional clients (asset managers, pension funds, hedge funds). This means that we present, discuss and execute trade ideas within the corporate debt universe. Our investors are highly professional and my job is to make them aware of good opportunities in the market, to convince them to act on these opportunities and last but not least to make them execute the trades with Nordea as counterparty.

To be a success in this you need to know your client. What kind of investment strategies does your client have? What time horizon does he have for his investments? Does he track an index or is he total return focused? What securities does he hold in his portfolio? When did he buy – when should he sell? A good salesperson will know when, what and why his client should be contacted with a trade idea, and will make sure to execute on this.

My career

Prior to joining Nordea, I completed an MSc degree in Finance and Economics at Copenhagen Business School as well as a BSc in Business and Economics at the Norwegian School of Business. During my studies I earned practical experience working part time at a derivatives clearing house and also had a summer internship at a large asset manager.

I have worked in credit sales at Nordea for one year now. During that time I have been given responsibility for an increasing number of clients and today I cover a number of large institutional clients across Europe.

Outside my job

When I am not working I like to hit the gym or go for a run – great way to get new energy!

Furthermore, I enjoy a good book, fiction or non-fiction doesn’t matter. I am not that cultural though, I also watch a lot of football. Big Manchester United fan!

Good food and a bottle of wine is never wrong either.

The best thing about being here

The best thing about working at Nordea Markets is to work with people who are both capable and willing. My colleagues are friendly, ambitious and good at what they do, and for me it is essential to work with people who want to achieve something. At Nordea I get to be a part of the number one-ranked credit team in the Nordics. And no matter what you work with, it is fun to be part of one of the best teams.

Work location: Copenhagen
Born: 1984
Education: MSc in Finance and Accounting
Career area: FXMM Sales, Sales Manager

“The best things about being at Nordea Markets are the high pace, the steep learning curve and the high level of knowledge among my colleagues”

The position

As a sales manager on FXMM I’m responsible for advising and trading with a portfolio of multinational corporate customers in terms of foreign exchange and money market transactions.

My job

My task is to advise mainly large Danish and mid-sized British companies on how to manage their foreign exchange risks by providing tailor-made hedging strategies including forwards, swaps and different types of option strategies. At the same time I need to be on top of the financial markets overall, including having a view on the FX market. I work closely together with my colleagues both in the FXMM team but also on the Interbank MM and FX spot desk, our research team, our E-desk as well as the Risk Advisory team and Corporate & Institutional Banking.

My career

After graduating from Copenhagen Business School with an MSc in finance and accounting, I started in a graduate position in Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) in Nordea in 2010. Here I was co-responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with a portfolio of large Danish corporate customers. After three and a half years in CIB I started in Nordea Markets as a sales manager where I further develop my skills within the financial instruments area as well as the relationship approach towards our corporate customer segment.

Outside my job

I like running and participating in half marathons, reading books and traveling. I also like to organise events and being a part of different networks and I have a great passion for Italian culture, food and wine.

The best thing about being here

The best things about being at Nordea Markets are the high pace, the steep learning curve and the high level of knowledge among my colleagues.

Career area: Risk Advisory

“I love the adrenaline and buzz in the Markets organisation”

The position

I work as an assistant sales manager or risk advisor with focus on FX and FI exposures and I’m part of the Nordea Graduate Programme.

My job

So far I spend my time assisting various sales managers in their assessment of clients’ risk. Usually I would support in the analysis of a customer’s debt portfolio or foreign exchange risk, and eventually in preparing strategies than can reduce the customer’s risk at the lowest possible cost.

My career

I started at Nordea Markets in May 2011, while I was still attending the bachelor part of my education. I spent my first couple of years within the research organisation in a group called Global Alpha Strategy. The group covered quant and model investments within foreign exchange and fixed income, in an attempt to push trade ideas to frequently trading customers. After a spell within the fundamental Global Research team, I ended up in the sales organisation as an assistant sales manager in the Risk Advisory group. I have now started as a graduate within that group.

Outside my job

In my spare time I love football and golf, and I usually try to follow both Real Madrid and FC Copenhagen as closely as possible.

I also tend to be a bit of a political nerd, having read loads of material about Western world politics ever since taking my first steps. Especially topics such as foreign, financial and monetary politics have been my interest and I never refuse a good academic or technical debate on these topics.

The best thing about being here

I love the adrenaline and buzz in the Markets organisation. Every new day brings new challenges as financial markets are ever-changing. It is a great motivation for me to discuss how to handle a changing financial environment with customers, and it gives me great joy when they listen to my advice.

“I have developed my competencies tremendously through the Graduate Programme, on-site learning and external courses”

The position

The assistant dealer solves tasks assigned by a dealer or other employees in the group, in addition to handling routine tasks in Markets.

My job

I’ve been working with short end fixed income for a little over a year now, and besides fulfilling the position description I am also able to perform some of the tasks that would usually be done by a chief dealer. This includes pricing, trading, advising and making complex calculations and strategies based on the current market situation.

My career

I started as a student at Nordea and was lucky enough to be selected for the graduate programme in 2013. During my graduate year I have developed my competencies tremendously through the graduate programme, on-site learning and external courses. Now I look forward to gaining more experience and developing my own area of expertise.

Outside my job

I love spending time with friends and family, but besides that I also run, play soccer, watch American football and I have just started kite surfing!

The best thing about being here

Markets are always moving. What a cliché, but true nevertheless. The changing environment and constant challenges and learning it brings with it really motivates me. Of course that is also easy when you work with a lot of intelligent people who want to share their knowledge with you.
