Meet our people

Meet some of the people that make up Nordea Markets

Our people come from different educations, and they all offer something unique to the company. Here, some of them talk about their work and challenges at our Oslo office.

"I've gradually attained new responsibilities at Nordea, and after about a year I started handling clients directly"

The position

The sales manager is responsible for a client portfolio with limited complexity. He or she makes independent assessments in connection with the performance of specific tasks.

My job

I've been working with interest rate derivatives sales in Oslo since 2011. I mainly provide large Norwegian corporates and hedge funds with hedging and speculation strategies to help manage their interest rate portfolios. I also assist other brokers in Norway with pricing and booking of trades, participate in employer branding activities, and perform complex risk calculations and market analyses.

My career

I started as an assistant sales manager in Nordea Markets right after graduation. My main responsibilities were to assist my colleagues in Oslo and other areas of Norway in their everyday work. I have taken various courses, including Nordea’s Sales Academy in Copenhagen and Norwegian Society of Financial Analysts’ (NFF) Fixed Income Analysis programme. I've gradually attained new responsibilities at Nordea, and after about a year I started handling clients directly.

Outside my job

I love travelling and spending time with friends and family.

The best thing about being here

The best thing about my job is the continuous learning through new challenges, a wide variety of tasks, and collaboration with highly skilled and professional colleagues and clients.

"I love the opportunity for development"

The position

The senior sales manager is responsible for a complex client portfolio, has extensive in-depth knowledge of the various products and knows how to combine the products.

My job

As a senior sales manager I'm responsible for advisory services and transaction execution towards my own and my team’s client portfolio. This portfolio includes issuers as well as investors in the domestic bond market. The issuers are typically municipalities, large corporates, banks and covered bond entities, whereas the investor universe mainly comprises fund managers, life and pension companies and bank treasuries.

My career

I started as a part-time employee at Nordea Markets in 2009 as an assistant credit analyst while studying for my Bachelor's degree at the Norwegian School of Management. The part-time assignment offered me a unique opportunity to become familiar with the different product areas within Nordea Markets and to get to know people in the organisation. After having taken my degree I started working as a sales manager. Furthermore, I have completed Norwegian Society of Financial Analysts’ (NFF) Fixed Income Analysis programme.

Outside my job

When I'm not at work I particularly like travelling, skiing and cooking.

The best thing about being here

I love the opportunity for development. I've gradually been given new responsibilities in the position, and I feel challenged every day as I work with highly skilled colleagues and clients.

My career

I started as a part-time employee at Nordea Markets in 2009 while I was completing my Master's degree at the Norwegian School of Management. I was assigned to work with various projects both within FX and Fixed Income. Looking back, my part-time assignment was an excellent way of getting to know both the different product areas within Nordea Markets and the people of the organisation. in addition, it was a big opportunity to prove my worth. After completing my education I started as a full-time assistant analyst.

Outside my job

When I am not at work I like to spend time with friends and family, staying physically active and travel to all the corners of the world.

The best thing about being here

"The most important factor for my personal development has been all of my knowledgeable colleagues"

The position

The associate director in Debt Capital Markets functions in a team engaged in potential new Debt Capital Markets transactions as a project leader or a project member.

My job

My task is to deliver cross asset class derivatives expertise in connection with mergers and acquisitions, leverage buy-outs or other special corporate events. I work closely with finance teams at the initial phase of a transaction to identify and highlight interest rate, foreign exchange and commodity risks. When risks are quantified, I cooperate with the product specialists at the trading floor to structure the best possible hedging solution for the client.  We are a small, specialised team working across the Nordic borders. This team structure provides us an excellent platform to share experiences and to look at problems from a different perspective.

My career

I started as a summer intern at Nordea Markets and continued working part time while writing my Master's thesis. I later joined a specialised team focusing on derivatives products for shipping and offshore clients. My journey continued to Nordea’s office in New York where I covered both corporate and institutional clients – both in the foreign exchange and interest rate markets. Returning to Norway, I joined Derivatives Sales focusing primarily on private equity financed companies, before finally joining Corporate Solution.

Outside my job

I spend my spare time with family and friends. I’ve always been interested in football, but in recent years I’ve also started to run as a form of exercise.

The best thing about being here

The people I work with. I have attended many internal and external courses; however, the most important factor for my personal development has been all of my knowledgeable colleagues.
